I did not realize I had been away from the blog for two years. I'm even more surprised to see that I have had 24 visiters on my blog this week. Well, I am back and trying to get back into writing. A lot has happened in the past couple of years. I interned at a public school and then taught a pre-k class just this last year. Last summer, I went to Maine with my big sister and her three youngest kids to visit her oldest daughter. My niece, M, moved to Maine with her husband to run a jewlry shop. They had a son, who is now almost two years old. After that trip, I then went on a date with a handsome young man from my church. We then entered into a courtship. He proposed on Septemper 15, 2018. I bought a house in November and together with help from my parents, family, and friends we fixed it up. It was a 1966 brick ranch that had been neglected and was in need of some care.
We got married in June. Now we're expecting a little bundle of joy in March of 2020.
I am 17 weeks pregnant. We're both very excited to start our family. We hope to be blessed with a full house. I had always thought that once I had kids my blog's content would change and I would become a mommy blogger. Now I think my blog will be much the same as it always has been. A strong focus on my writing with the occasional post about real life followed by long, unexcused absenses.
Now that I am home and I no longer have college work to eat up my time, I am hoping to stir my imagination and start writing again. NaNoWriMo is looking more doable for me this year. I have been able to write in some of the projects I share with my sister, Ginny. But I will need to focus on one of my own stories if I am to write 50,000 words. Per usual, my difficulty is in finding the right story. There are three stories I have been looking at, although I am feeling quite blocked when it comes to the important task of plot development. I have always been good at developing the characters of the story. Even my side characters often have a rich history and personalities so strong they could be the main character of the book if I let them. But plot, that is where I always struggle.
To get my writer juices flowing, I have tried to read more. I never read enough. It's something that always gets the imagination working again, but not a hobbie I have ever been able to stick to. That's also why I have finally returned to the blog. It's probably what always brings me back. The best way to get rid of writers block is simply to write. It doesn't matter what you write about. It's just the action of taking your words and your thoughts and writing them down, or typing, to unclog that part of your brain. It's working for me, it's just a very slow and painful process. Painful, because I am a bit of a perfectionist, but my writing skills are a little rusty and thus less than perfect. Not even good really. This blog post could be more elquent in speech, have smoother transitions, and better grammar. You wouldn't know from this post that I got an A in my English Comosition classes in college. I was good enough in my classes that I was hired to tutor students taking English Comp. 101. My teacher and my mom, would no doubt make this post bleed in red if they saw it. Thank goodness neither of them read my blog. ;)
