For everyone doing NaNoWriMo, God speed! :D
National Novel Writing Month begins tomorrow!!! I'm excited and nervous, but more of the second. I plan to write at least 1,666 words each day because that's what it will take to reach 50,000 words by the end of the month, but we'll see how well that goes. Not much appears to be on the calender for November so hopefully I will have more time to get my writing done. This year I'll be writing with my sister and my younger niece. I'm hoping to reach at least 2,000 words each day so I might have a little more leeway. I want to stay up tonight so I can start writing at midnight as soon as the event begins. A few other writers are doing it, but I know I shouldn't because I really need to get some sleep, especially since Sunday is right around the corner. I don't need to be falling asleep during service. xD
For everyone doing NaNoWriMo, God speed! :D

From Darkest Before Dawn Two years before the war on Pacem Huntington was Dawn's neighbor and friend. He introduced Dawn to his co-worker and new friend, Jacob William Swann. Jacob and Dawn hit it off and quickly became friends. When Dawn found out that Jacob wasn't a Christian she started sharing the Good News with him and soon enough he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. One year later and they started dating, another year and they were engaged. On February 16th Jacob left to fight in the war against Fortis, promising to marry Dawn when he returned. The war ended and Jacob never returned. He was assumed dead by those who remained at home, but in reality he was taken captive along with a few others and held prisoner in Quartz, Fortis. A year after the war only fourteen prisoners from the war remain and Jacob is one of them. They've been informed they only have two weeks left to live, then they'll be executed. It's two more weeks of captivity and torture, his hopes of ever escaping are finally dwindling. Dawn is convinced that Jacob is dead. But someone else who's hiding in the city with her knows the truth. He knows Jacob's alive, but hasn't said anything. The main character of Remember Ariel. Ariel Freeman lives on a small farm with her father and mother outside the city walls. When Ariel is eighteen her mother dies from an incurable illness. All her life Ariel has lived in a land that is oppressed by a hidden government and it isn't until two years after her mother's death that she and father began to take in runaways, people that had escaped from the city walls that concealed the government buildings. They sheltered them until they could take them to someone else who could smuggle them into new territory. A few short years later she falls in love with the blacksmith's son from town. Soon she is engaged to Sebastian and they have plans to live on a ranch of their own. But their dreams are shattered when Ariel turns eighteen on April 4th. Government authorities take Ariel and her father into the city. Her father is imprisoned and shortly after he's executed. Something far more unique happens to Ariel. She can do everything a computer can. And it turns out, she's not the only one. Aya Midori, Bruce Abbot, Emily Bennet, Rider Morris, and Hunter all have the same abilities as Ariel now has. And stranger yet, they were all born in April of the same year and recieved this new ability shortly after their eighteenth birthday. What each of them can do is different depending on how much they've learned. Soon Ariel finds herself joining this band of friends to learn more about what's happened to them, and to help the people of their land find freedom. That's all for now! God Bless! So I tried to do scheduled posting where the site publishes my posts at set dates. It didn't work. I probably didn't do it right. Anyway, I'm not going to do that again. Now you know why my posts came late and one after the other. Plus, they're not in order. I was going to do several posts on different characters, the first one being on Dawn. I'm not sure how well that's going to go now because I'm just feeling up to doing it, but we'll see.
Also I have 200 pins on my Celestial Trilogy board and 36 people have viewed Darkest Before Dawn on Wattpad! And that's about all I have. God bless! Have a fantastic day! October is all about getting ready for NaNoWriMo. I was really excited about what I got to do with Darkest Before Dawn and I'm trying to keep fueling that excitement for this book. Wattpad updated so now I can share my books with Google+ instead of just Facebook. I have more friends and followers on Google+ than Facebook so love it when a website gives me more options. I got to share the beginning of the second draft of Darkest Before Dawn on Google+, but there's more than that! And the second half is what I'm more excited about and what I'm going to do here. I'm going to compare the beginnings of the first and second draft and soon I hope I'll be able to do this with the third draft. (I'm going to keep rewriting it until I'm 100% happy with it so there's no telling how many drafts I'll have.) So you know what you're reading, for both it will be the first few paragraphs of the first chapter. They're from Dawn's point of view, whom as you'll recall was named Spring in the first draft. Let the fun begin! First draft: I opened the door, and a burst of fresh air and sunlight washed over my face. I closed my eyelids shortly, relinquishing the feel of early autumn. I closed the rusted door behind me and walked a ways down the street. It was empty, as always, except for a couple broken down cars that remained on the side of the road, virtually untouched. I walked all the way onto the interstate and then a mile farther, stopping when I reached the city limit. I was standing in the middle of the interstate, staring at the wide expanse of empty land. Second draft: I walked down the dark corridor taking care to watch my step. I entered one of the hotel rooms, the door already hung open and the drapes were torn, letting in the moon light. The beds were unmade, children’s toys littered the floor and bullet holes lined the wall. Three suit cases laid in one corner, a child’s blanket was on the bed along with a stuffed animal. A layer of dust covered everything, the balcony door was cracked open and a sliver of moon light came through the opening. It's a pretty big difference, huh? :) I love comparing my current works with what I've written a year ago, or even just six months ago. Seeing the improvement is always encouraging. Well, I hope you all enjoyed that as much as I did. Have a great week! God bless! :D
Name: Hannah Dawn Scot Nickname: Dawn Age: 18 Eyes: Dark blue Hair: Brown Height: 5'4" She lives with her mother, Rebecca and her sister, Odessa. Odessa Scot is two years younger than Dawn. Her father, Henry died in the war, and she had no other siblings. Her best friend is Mia Sanders. Dawn fell in love with Jacob Swann at sixteen and they became engaged one year later, the year Fortis attacked Pacem where they lived. Jacob left to fight in the war with the promise of returning to marry her, but he never did return. The war ended with the death tool in the hundreds. Dawn, her family, and a few other families hid in the remains of their city and they've been living there ever since. One year later Dawn still mourns the lose of Jacob, but has finally learned to except that he must be dead. Aaron Sanders, Mia's older brother, likes Dawn and hangs around her a lot, but she hardly notices. In Light of Dawn she is the mother of Logan, Elliot, and Ace. Some of my readers know that I've been having a hard time choosing between either Jacob or Adam being her love interest. I can easily make it so Jacob is alive and in captivity somewhere, or he can be dead and she can fall in love with the second main character instead. My niece loves Jacob and is dying for Dawn to find him. My sister, on the other hand, would love for Adam and Dawn to get together. Now, I have my own preference of course, but I love the mystery of which one Dawn will love in the end. Although, one of my fellow writers does know my preference and has helped me in deciding who Dawn will be married to in Light of Dawn. But she's the only one I'll tell, mwahahaha! XD As for Dawn's character she is full of curiosity, she wants to learn. She's also not one to give up easily, part of that is seen in her refusal to believe that Jacob is dead for nearly a year, because she didn't want to give up on him. She had a lot of faith in Jacob. Also, one of the reasons I love nicknaming my characters is because I feel like it means so much more when someone calls them by there full name, or in her case, her first name. If you read Darkest Before Dawn there will be times when she's called Hannah Dawn, or just Hannah and to me when they choose her to call her by that name, instead of the nickname everyone calls her by, it will have so much meaning behind it, even if it's not noticed at first. I wanted to have more tell you about her, but this is about all I have so far. Have a blessed day! National Novel Writing Month is coming! It's only a month away, well actually even less than that. For awhile I didn't know what book I was going to focus on during November, or if I was even going to bother do it this year. I decided to focus exclusively on Darkest Before Dawn. Honestly, I don't think I'm going to make it to 50,00 words in one month. I just can't write that fast, I'm a slow writer. I used to be fast, I used have hundreds of novel ideas at one time and I could write in several books at the same time. At some point I lost that talent. I blame it on a writing course I took one summer, I say that it made writing work instead of fun, and maybe that's true, but I'm not really sure anymore. Anyway, I may have lost the wild and active imagination of childhood, but I can still write a good story, just at much slower pace.
So instead of making my goal to reach 50,000 words I've made it to focus only on one book, and work steadily on that book, not getting distracted by all the other stories I want to write. In November I will try harder to stay away from all the other internet distractions when I get on the computer to write, I'll try to limit myself to NaNoWriMo and my writing documents. I'll try to stay away from the distraction of editing my book, and making a better synopsis. My hope is that NaNoWriMo will help me stay focused on writing instead of surfing the web and getting carried away on Pinerest when I get distracted on my Celestial Trilogy board. Hopefully by telling y'all this it will help keep me to my plans instead of procrastinating because no one would have to know. I'm also going to try not to neglect my blog during November. I don't know how the month will go, if it will be so busy I can't get around to it, or if I'll have all the time in the world. I imagine being diligent, but I can just see myself procrastinating about it again like I did tonight before I finally picked up this computer and forced myself to say something. It's one of those things where I hate the idea of doing it so I put it off as long as possible, but when I do pick it up then I enjoy it and wonder why I didn't do it sooner. That's all I have for now. Have a wonderful day! God bless you! |
