Sanctity of Human Life
Yesterday, I went to the Crisis Pregnancy Center to pick up baby bottles for my church. Sanctity of Human Life Sunday is the 19th of January and I am kicking off the Baby Bottle Boomerang this year. I have never made a church announcement before or spoken before any crowd larger than a small classroom (which was nerve-racking). In the first few months of my pregnancy, before I had a baby bump, or felt baby kicks, or knew if I was having a boy or girl, God laid on my heart a need to act on my convictions. Abortion, as horrible as it has always been to me, has never looked so ugly as it does now. I was nauseous from morning sickness binge watching Call the Midwife when one of the characters had an abortion. She had a full house of kids and couldn’t bare the thought of having another. She paid a laid to perform an abortion. It was disgusting and heartbreaking to watch, even as a fiction. I thought of my little one, probably about the size of a peanut at the time, and my heart broke to think of any harm coming to him or her. I didn’t, and I still don’t, understand how someone can choose to get rid of their baby like that, and knowing that it is a baby.
So over the following months I prayed over what to do with this new fire in my heart. What course of action should I take? By November I felt the urge to kick off the Baby Bottle Boomerang at my church. I know God will give me the words to say when stand up there. I pray He softens their hearts and that our church, though small, makes a big difference for the CPC. The CPC saves so many lives, the lives of the mothers and the babies. They help the young mothers even after their baby is born. They show women how they can succeed in life and keep their baby.
